Your Cause

Editing

We can support your voice with various editing services. We are most experienced in the following spaces:

  • Christian Nonfiction: Bring us your devotionals, memoirs, Christian living, Bible studies, and Bible resources. We will help renew them so your message gets heard.

  • Christian Fiction: We love deep theological themes and complex characters.

  • Academic Works: Dissertations and theses, mainly involving Biblical studies, humanities, and qualitative research.

Writing

You are a voice of inspiration. It is okay if you are not also a writer. Keep inspiring. We'll be the steady pen.

  • Grant Writing: Need to apply for funding? We would be happy to see your nonprofit's mission realized.

  • Ghostwriting: AI won't "get" your vision. We will. We can ghostwrite in the same spaces we edit (except academic, because we value academic integrity).

Our Strategy

Defined

Manuscript Evaluation

For editing projects, we like to start with an evaluation. Our report will recommend any editing services that might benefit your manuscript, but you are not obligated to move forward with them. The manuscript evaluation offers valuable feedback on its own, and is an abbreviated version of the editorial report we provide with a developmental edit.

If you choose to move forward with editing, we will apply the cost of the manuscript evaluation to your editing services.

Included with your Evaluation:

  • Areas of excellence

  • Opportunities for growth

  • Recommendations

  • Questions your audience may ask

  • Any general questions you ask us to consider

  • A sample edit demonstrating any editing recommendations

To Request a Manuscript Evaluation, fill out this form and submit payment. We will contact you as soon as possible to let you know our expected date of completion.

If you would like to request writing services or have questions before you begin, please contact us directly!

Project Type

You may also email it if you prefer: contact@repriseeditorial.com

Evaluation Fee
$275

This fee is nonrefundable but will be applied to any future editing services.

Terms of Service

·    You agree to pay the selected price for the specified service before work begins on the specified date. Once the project begins, you will not be refunded. Other refunds will be given on a case-by-case basis. Projects may also be rescheduled on a case-by-case basis.

·         If your project goes beyond the word count or project type described, you understand that you will receive an additional invoice that reflects the difference, and your project will be delayed.

Developmental Editing

What it is

This one has many different definitions, and can vary from editor to editor or even project to project. We define it as helping to refine and develop a manuscript in terms of content, theme, structure, organization, and depth.

Who it benefits

Projects of all stages and writers of all levels can benefit from developmental editing. We can help with brainstorming for writer's block, line-by-line deep-dives for overall growth, and reorganization or reimagination for something you might think is a mess.

For Example:

  • We have helped a "brain dump" become a devotional and strong arguments written in mediocre fiction become a strong nonfiction.

  • We have helped develop characters, come up with book titles, helped fill plot holes, and turn autobiography into memoir.

  • Our ability to find themes and draw them out (when you barely knew they existed) is possibly a curse for our ability to function as humans. For your manuscript? It's a gift.

Line Editing

What it is

Though line editing is indeed a separate service and craft, it often goes hand in hand with developmental editing. It deals with sentence structure, clarity, fluency, and conciseness. Line editing makes your manuscript read like a book.

Who it benefits

After story and structure are settled, it is time for line editing. We retain your voice while ensuring that the reader does not misinterpret your meaning or think the project too tedious to continue reading.

For Example:

  • Dialog becomes less stilted and reads more like a real conversation.

  • We can make people more willing to read the instructions: "In order to tabulate the pre-determined results in a proper manner. . ." becomes "To tabulate the results correctly. . ."

  • We can even rescue characters from horrifying situations and disease. Perhaps you tell your literary fiction reader: "My love took his dog for a walk, during which he drank from puddles from the recent rain" (Wait, he what?!). We help you clarify: "My love took his dog Bruno for a walk. Bruno often dipped his head to enjoy the puddles, remnants of the recent rain."

Copyediting

What it is

Copyediting is also a sentence-level edit, but it is more technical than stylistic. Here, we look for proper syntax, grammar, spelling, and adherence to a style guide. We have experience with the Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS), Associated Press (AP), American Psychological Association (APA), the Modern Language Association (MLA), and a few others. Just let us know if you have a preference.

Who it benefits

Anything that is going to be published in a specific format needs a copyedit. If you are writing a dissertation, your university will likely have a preference. Nonfiction books are best standardized to CMoS, and online articles tend to lean toward AP.

For Example:

  • Did you know that each style guide has a rule for whether words are hyphenated, closed to become compound words, or just two words with a space between? Sometimes it depends on the part of speech.

  • "Do I capitalize this word?"

  • "Does a comma go here?"

Proofreading

What it is

The final review for tiny errors, typos, and formatting issues.

Who it benefits

A proofreader is a wonderful thing, and all can benefit. Especially if you have been looking at a piece of writing for months or years, only a fresh set of eyes will catch errors.

For Example:

  •        We have many years of experience writing, editing, and teaching thewritten word. However, there mat may still be a few typos on this website Because we are human. Heres the thing: AI and spellcheckers still can't proofread with 100% accuracy

  • How many errors did you spot in the previous point?

Ghostwriting

What it is

Ghostwriting is a book written for you, and you will then hold the copyright. You hire us for expert writing services and confidentiality. If you don't want to tell anyone who wrote it, no one needs to know.

Who it benefits

Individuals with a platform who need to write a book, primarily in any Christian genre. You don't have the time or skills to write what needs to be written, and you know AI isn't going to see the vision.

For Example:

  • "How did [insert public figure] find the time to write a book?"
